Computational Physicist – AI-Driven Engineering Platform

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Computational Physicist to remotely lead the development and refinement of physics-based simulation engines for pumps, compressors, and related mechanical systems. You will create and validate first-principles models, develop surrogate models to accelerate simulations, and collaborate closely with AI/ML specialists to integrate physics constraints into hybrid models.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, implement, and validate physics-based computational models using first-principles.
- Build surrogate and reduced-order models to enable near real-time simulation and decision-making.
- Develop and optimize physics simulation engines leveraging parallel computing and GPU acceleration to achieve real-time or near-real-time performance.
- Collaborate remotely with other teams to embed physics constraints and improve model performance.
- Calibrate models using digitized experimental data and real-world measurements.
- Participate in data pipeline design and model updating workflows.
- Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, and results clearly.
- Support integration of physics models into cloud-based and API-driven platforms.

Qualifications:

- Master's or PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related computational science fields.
- Expertise in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, or related engineering physics.
- Strong numerical methods and computational physics background.
- Proficient programming skills (Python, C++, or similar).
- Experience with parallel computing (multi-threading, multiprocessing) and GPU acceleration (CUDA, OpenCL) is a plus.
- Familiarity with integrating high-performance C++ or CUDA modules with Python is desirable.
- Experience with surrogate modeling, physics-informed machine learning, or hybrid AI-physics models is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud computing and data engineering tools is a bonus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working remotely and collaborating across time zones in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment.
