Career Area Engineering Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc When you join Caterpillar you re joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other We are the makers problem solvers and future world builders who are creating stronger more sustainable communities We don t just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen with our customers where we work and live Together we are building a better world so we can all enjoy living in it BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE The successful candidate for this Senior Associate Engineer position must have a Post Graduate degree from a reputed institution in an accredited Engineering curriculum Mechanical Design Automobile Aerospace plus 4 years of structural simulation experience related to product development validation He she will be part of the Core Engines Structural Simulation team CESCOE which performs virtual validation related to structural durability of Caterpillar engines Incumbents must have demonstrated technical analysis competency related to Structural durability of Mechanical Systems powertrain components fatigue life predictions using robust simulation models Good understanding of Fatigue assessment techniques LCF HCF Sound knowledge and experience in performing Thermal Structural Fatigue analysis Experience in using FEA tools like Abaqus Ansys FE-Safe Optistruct Tosca Isight etc for solving complex non-linear FEA Multiphysics simulations related to structural durability Engine and Powertrain system functional design knowledge of engine cylinder Head Block Liner piston Valve train Connecting rod crankshaft flywheel and other engine mounted structures Experience as an individual contributor in performing complex validation projects programs Preferred Non-Technical Skills Requires a self-starter with strong technical skills Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex tasks Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group Demonstrated excellent judgement and decision-making ability Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems Excellent Team work and collaboration skills kill Descriptors Technical Excellence Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges Level Basic Understanding Structural durability of Machine Systems Sub-Systems Test Correlation Vibration Fatigue Stress Expert in OMSA test correlation validations using full vehicle application load profiles Shaker-table correlations Sound understanding of principles of vibrations strength of materials Bolt Weld Fatigue Problem Solving Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations Level Working Knowledge Demonstrated excellent judgement and decision-making ability Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems Excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex task Computer-Aided Design Engineering Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs ability to produce analyze simulate and test product design drafts Level Working Knowledge Expertise in using FEA tools like Nastran Abaqus FE-Safe etc for solving complex non-linear FEA Multiphysics simulations related to structural fatigue Effective Communications Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors Level Working Knowledge Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group Excellent Teamwork and collaboration skills Relocation is available for this position Posting Dates July 1 2025 - July 10 2025 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer Not ready to apply Join our
