Job Title: Business Unit Head – BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems Manufacturing)

Location: Bhubaneswar

Department: Energy Storage Manufacturing Division

Position Overview

The BU Head – BESS Manufacturing will lead the establishment and operations of the company's Battery Energy Storage Systems manufacturing unit. The role will be responsible for setting up the plant, developing manufacturing processes, managing production, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and building a skilled workforce to meet the company's strategic growth objectives in the energy storage sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Setup & Commissioning

- Lead the end-to-end setup of the BESS manufacturing facility, including layout planning, infrastructure development, and machinery installation.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and consultants for timely commissioning.

2. Manufacturing Process Development

- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for efficient, safe, and cost-effective production.
- Introduce automation and lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency.

3. Production & Quality Management

- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets are met.
- Ensure adherence to quality control standards and implement robust testing procedures.

4. Supply Chain & Procurement

- Establish vendor and supplier networks for raw materials, components, and equipment.
- Negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely supply.

5. Compliance & Safety

- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Implement strict safety protocols and conduct periodic audits.

6. Design & Development Of BESS

Ensure designing & development of the BESS system including co ordinating with consultant on their view design , development & selection of component for the BESS.

7. Team Leadership

- Recruit, train, and lead a high-performing manufacturing team, including production managers, engineers, and supervisors.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

8. Strategic Growth & R&D Coordination

- Work with R&D teams to integrate new battery chemistries and storage technologies into production.
- Align manufacturing capacity with market demand and company growth targets.

9. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

- Prepare regular reports on production metrics, quality performance, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and control budgets, costs, and resource utilization.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong leadership in manufacturing setup and operations.
- In-depth knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards.
- Proven experience in large-scale plant commissioning and production ramp-up.
- Strong supply chain and vendor management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering (MBA preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in battery, energy storage, or related manufacturing leadership.
- Proven track record of setting up or scaling manufacturing facilities.
