**Job Title**: VMC Operator

**Job Summary**:
The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining vertical machining centers to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. The operator will utilize computer numerical control (CNC) programs to control the machining process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Machine Setup**: Set up and prepare VMC machines for operation by installing and aligning fixtures, tools, and workpieces according to job specifications.
- **Programming**: Load CNC programs into the machine control unit (MCU) and ensure proper setup of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
- **Operation**: Operate VMC machines to perform various machining operations including drilling, milling, boring, tapping, and cutting, while monitoring machine performance and making necessary adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency.
- **Quality Assurance**: Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- **Maintenance**: Perform routine maintenance tasks on VMC machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
- **Troubleshooting**: Identify and troubleshoot issues with machine operation, tooling, or programming to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- **Safety**: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to machine safety guidelines.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine setup sheets, production logs, and inspection reports.
- **Collaboration**: Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to optimize production processes, resolve technical issues, and meet production targets.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in machining or CNC operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a VMC Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, G-code, and machining operations.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
- Ability to perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and workpieces.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery and handling tools.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
