Retail Cashier

**JOB BRIEF**:A Retail Cashier is responsible for overseeing cash transactions and ensuring the smooth operation of cash handling activities within a business or organisation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Cash Handling: Process cash transactions accurately and efficiently, including receiving payments, giving change, and issuing receipts.
- Supervision: Oversee and manage a team of cashiers, ensuring they adhere to cash handling procedures and providing training as needed.
- Cash Register Operation: Operate and maintain cash registers and other financial equipment.
- Balancing Cash: Reconcile cash registers at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring that the cash drawer is accurately balanced.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining a friendly and helpful demeanour.
- Cash Handling Policies: Enforce and adhere to company cash handling policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with security and financial regulations.
- Security: Implement security measures to safeguard against theft or fraud, such as verifying the authenticity of currency and monitoring cash-handling practices.
- Cash Reports: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports and submit them to the appropriate department or management.
- Cash Reconciliation: Perform regular cash reconciliation and audits to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Cashier Scheduling: Create and manage cashier schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and maintain optimal staffing levels.

**Qualifications**:

- **Experience**: Prior experience as a cashier or in a cash-handling role is required.

**Skills Required**:

- Cash Handling Skills: Proficiency in cash handling procedures, counting money, and using cash registers.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to maintain accurate records and balance cash registers.
- Organisational Skills: Good organisational skills to manage cashiers' schedules, track cash transactions, and generate reports.
- Integrity: High level of honesty and integrity is essential due to the handling of money and sensitive financial information.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members, management, and customers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues and discrepancies related to cash transactions and customer concerns.
- Security Awareness: Knowledge of security measures and awareness of potential risks related to cash handling.

**Salary**: ₹10,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
