**ABOUT PATANG**:
Patang is a registered, non-profit organisation started in 2003 with a vision to create a platform for young people to engage in social justice issues actively. Patang is working towards a society where young people take the initiative for positive social change, strongly emphasising developing their knowledge, skills and confidence. Through innovative programmes, we combine both these aspects in a diverse range of activities. It has been working closely with children and young people from the eastern region of the country in the areas of Youth Development, Education, Life skills, Gender and SRHR, Livelihood, and Child rights.

**EDUCATION PROGRAMME**:
Patang has been working with children from primary classes to improve their learning outcomes. Over the years, it has developed a framework to enhance the learning outcomes of children using a mother tongue-based multilingual education approach. Since 2016, we have been running the multilingual education programme with grades I-III in Bargarh and Sambalpur districts of Odisha. In this programme, elementary-level children are engaged through different innovative learning processes, participatory methodologies, and child-centric approaches to improve their competencies in language education.

Through this initiative, we will directly work with teachers, NGOs, institutions and individuals interested in working on education and MLE. We are looking for an Education Center Coordinator who can work with us to improve the quality of education through stakeholder engagement.

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Improve the quality of educational processes and practices within schools across Bargarh district through capacity building of teachers, head teachers, resource persons, and education functionaries.
- Design and facilitate creative approaches to teaching and learning through workshops, teacher forums, seminars, etc., in the MLE approach
- Building networks of like-minded teachers and head teachers to develop a community of teachers interested in improving children's learning quality.
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of stakeholders associated with the Resource Center; assists in developing manuals, guides, and other material necessary for the efficient and effective administration of the Education Resource Center.
- Document programs, interventions, approaches, observation, report etc. in coordination with team or experts from outside. It could include textual and audio-visual formats if required.
- Work with the team members to make the Resource Centre a vibrant place of knowledge creation and sharing.
- Build relationships with Govt—administration and stakeholders - partners, and other government and private institutions.
- Participate in different training and workshop organised by Patang.

The position requires the coordinator to be stationed in Bargarh but it involves traveling to villages and schools in Bargarh and Sambalpur.

**Language, Skills and Attributes**:

- Proficiency in Odia and English languages. The ability to speak in Sambalpuri or any other local language spoken in Western Odisha such as Munda, Kisan etc. will be considered an advantage
- Ability to work with the government system and negotiate changes/practices
- Deep understanding and a keen interest in the **Indian Education/Development **contexts - structure, policies, issues, debates, etc.
- Comprehend, analyze, and critically engage with content from a wide variety of sources, including conceptual academic writing, data-based reports and journalistic content.
- Open to discussions and idea exchanges within groups to evolve work plans and fine-tune to changing requirements of the organization.

**Educational Qualification and Experience**:

- Exposure to Multilingual Education will be preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in the field of education, teaching, training.
