**JOB TITLE**:Managing Editor

**DEPARTMENT**:Journals Commissioning

**DIRECT REPORTS**:3

**JOB PURPOSE**

**This job requires to oversee Journals management of HSS, STM and Bhasha, Journals**

**Publishing Services (JPS) portfolio as well as work on 5-8 assigned journals in individual**

**capacity.**

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Overall account management of HSS, STM and Bhasha, Journals Publishing Services (JPS)

portfolio.
- Independently manage SAGE India Journal’s portfolio for 5-8 assigned journals in individual

capacity.
- Ensure that SAGE offers a high-level service to authors, editors & societies.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the team and ensure team is optimally utilised along with

timely delegation of tasks & projects to team members
- Discover training needs of direct reports & or provide coaching where needed to maximize

their potential.
- Ensure smooth transition of Journals from Journal Acquisition to Editorial.
- Identify the requirement of the Journal and work with Journal Editor or Editorial closely. This

could involve paper flow, timeliness, A&I issues, advertisement material for conferences, etc.
- Identify the need and work with Marketing for Journal-specific promotion activities like Call for

Papers promotion, IF promotion, special issue promotion, article-specific promotion, etc.
- Keep a tab on the publishing pipeline and work with Journal Editor to bring the delayed

Journal back on track.***
- Handle any Journal issue as and when required and at any stage.***
- Identify and strengthen portfolio of Journals with abstracting and indexing & Impact Factor.
- Educate Editors on A&I, IF and guide them towards achieving IF
- Guide Editorial for any journal-specific issue that falls in Managing domain
- Work independently to achieve departmental goal and escalate to the reporting manager

when required.
- Managing Journal contracts’ renewals & addendums
- You are expected to upscale your knowledge of emerging market trends in publishing.
- Ensure SAGE Publishing is aligned with DEI & sustainability and work on local/global projects

relating to same.
- Work on any project assigned by the Manager
- Circulating regular departmental reports to manager/HOD.***

**Qualifications**: Masters in Business & Management

**Total Experience at SAGE: preferably 5 years in the Journals Management or in the Journals.**
