**Job Title: Route Splicer - OFC Network (Metro Area)**

**Job Location: Chennai**

**Job Overview**:
The Route Splicer is responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of Optical Fiber Cables (OFC) across the metro area. The role involves performing fiber splicing and ensuring the integrity of fiber routes to support a robust communication network. Working in the metro area requires a combination of fieldwork, technical know-how, and a strong understanding of fiber optics in high-traffic, densely populated urban regions.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Fiber Splicing & Installation**:

- Perform splicing, termination, and connection of optical fiber cables in outdoor and indoor environments.
- Conduct OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and other necessary testing to ensure splicing is successful and meets quality standards.
- Route OFC cables through conduits, trays, or overhead structures within the metro area.
- **Network Maintenance**:

- Diagnose and resolve fiber optic cable faults such as cuts, bends, or degraded signal quality.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance of fiber routes.
- Update and maintain fiber records and splicing diagrams in collaboration with the engineering team.
- **Documentation & Reporting**:

- Accurately document all splicing activity, test results, and repair work.
- Report any issues or concerns related to the fiber network to supervisors and suggest solutions.
- Collaborate with the design team to modify or improve fiber routes based on current network needs.
- **Health & Safety Compliance**:

- Follow safety protocols during fiber installations, maintenance, and splicing activities.
- Work in accordance with industry standards and local regulations regarding fiber optics and telecommunications.
- **Collaboration**:

- Work closely with the project management, network operations, and design teams to ensure smooth execution of projects.
- Coordinate with municipal and utility authorities when working on public rights of way.

**Required Qualifications**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certifications in fiber optics are highly preferred.
- **Experience**: 2-5 years of experience in fiber splicing and route maintenance in urban or metro environments.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency in using fiber optic splicing tools (e.g., fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs).
- Knowledge of fiber optics, cabling standards, and metro network architectures.
- Ability to read and interpret fiber design schematics and routing plans.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to work in confined spaces, climb poles, and carry fiber optic equipment.
- **Licensing**: Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the metro area.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Knowledge of metro area communications infrastructure.
- Ability to handle emergency repair situations and troubleshoot complex fiber issues.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.

**Work Environment**:

- The job involves outdoor fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions, as well as indoor splicing and testing.
- The Route Splicer may be required to work during non-standard hours or on-call to address urgent repair needs.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
