Medical Typist

A Medical Typist plays a critical role in healthcare by transcribing medical reports, patient records, and other documentation based on audio recordings from healthcare professionals. The job requires excellent typing skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Transcription:
Accurately transcribe medical reports, patient histories, diagnostic results, consultation notes, and other documents from audio recordings.

Ensure the correct spelling of medical terms, medication names, and patient information.

2. Editing and Formatting:
Edit and format medical reports to ensure clarity, consistency, and readability.

Correct grammar, punctuation, and ensure adherence to medical and legal standards.

3. Record Management:
Organize and maintain digital and physical medical documents, ensuring they are properly categorized and accessible to healthcare providers.

Update patient records promptly with transcribed data, ensuring accuracy.

4. Collaboration:
Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify unclear dictations or medical terms.

Communicate any discrepancies or errors found in the dictation with the appropriate healthcare provider.

5. Confidentiality:
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Follow data protection regulations and maintain secure systems for managing patient records.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in typing with a speed of at least 60-80 words per minute.

Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and healthcare documentation standards.

Strong command of English, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in transcription.

Experience with transcription software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Strong listening skills, especially in understanding varied accents or audio quality.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a medical typist or in medical transcription.

Certification or training in medical transcription.

Knowledge of healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
