**Research Fellow position under PhD program**

Applications are invited for the Research Fellow position at PPISR from young enthusiastic researchers for a PhD program under MAHE, Manipal.

**Research Area**: 1. Applications of microbial enzymes and secondary metabolites

2. Bioconjugation of Protein and their chemical modification

**No of positions**: 02

**Duration**: 3 Years (One year initially and extendable based on the appraisal report)

**Fellowship**:Rs. 20,000/- PM Fixed

**Essential qualifications**: Master’s in science/ technology in any of the branches of Biological Sciences/Chemical

Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks. Students who completed their master’s degree and expecting the results are also can apply. Students who have cleared exams such as GATE, NET, CSIR JRF/LS will be given preference.

**Desired Experience**: Prior experience in microbiology and microbial technology, biochemical assays, Basics of chemistry of biological reactions, experience in molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, knowledge on human physiology and biochemistry, proven records of good communication and writing skills. Good at working in a group and ready to take on challenges in research.

**Responsibilities**: To conduct primary research as per the project requirements, Collection of samples from the selected places if any, handling of chemicals and reagents as per the protocol, handling and maintenance of expensive instruments, reaction analysis and processing the data. To undertake duties in placing the order and maintaining an overview of expenditure. To communicate work plans and data in weekly scientific laboratory meetings. To undertake scholarly research activities such as scientific literature analysis and to show keenness to keep abreast of the current field and to effectively communicate academic thinking. Complete the project and submit the PhD in the stipulated time.

**About PPISR**:Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) **is situated near Bengaluru International Airport, and it is promoted & managed by AMEF trust, Bengaluru. The Institute was conceptualized to carry out innovative and original research in the fundamental and applied Sciences. The Institute is recognized by the DSIR, Govt. of India, and MAHE, Manipal as an R&D centre. It consists of three divisions, Biological Sciences, Materials Science & Catalysis, and Theoretical Sciences. Many have obtained their PhD degree so far and currently several students are pursuing research for their PhD degree at PPISR. Over 400 research articles have been published in reputed international journals. Two Indian patents were filed in the name of PPISR in biological sciences. Several sponsored projects from
Industry and Govt. agencies have been conducted successfully. In Biological Sciences facilities were established for conducting research in the field of microbial technology, cloning and molecular biology, protein modification and developing therapeutics, discovery of natural novel molecules for treating different human diseases.
