**Job Title: Indian/Continental/Chinese Chef**

**Location**: Shalom Backpackers Hostel, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

**Job Summary**:
As the Indian/Continental/Chinese Chef at Shalom Backpackers Hostel in Rishikesh, you will be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of our hostel's kitchen, specializing in Indian, Continental, or Chinese cuisine. Your role will involve menu planning, food preparation, cooking, kitchen management, and ensuring a high level of guest satisfaction with the diverse culinary offerings.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Menu Planning and Development**:

- Create menus that feature authentic and flavorful Indian, Continental, or Chinese dishes, catering to the preferences and dietary needs of our guests.
- Develop innovative and appealing dishes that showcase the richness and diversity of the chosen cuisine.
- Continuously update menus to introduce seasonal specialties and keep offerings fresh and exciting.
- **Food Preparation and Cooking**:

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes from the chosen cuisine, ensuring high-quality standards in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Utilize traditional cooking techniques and authentic ingredients to enhance the authenticity and flavor of the dishes.
- Maintain consistency in the quality and execution of dishes across all meals served.
- **Kitchen Management**:

- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food ordering, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies specific to Indian, Continental, or Chinese cuisine, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations and sanitation protocols.
- **Team Leadership and Training**:

- Lead and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a high level of culinary proficiency.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring smooth workflow and coordination among kitchen team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and mutual respect.
- **Customer Service and Guest Satisfaction**:

- Interact with guests to understand their preferences and expectations regarding Indian, Continental, or Chinese cuisine.
- Accommodate guest requests and dietary restrictions, ensuring a personalized and enjoyable dining experience.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest feedback, addressing any concerns or issues with professionalism and efficiency.
- **Cost Control and Budget Management**:

- Monitor food costs, portion sizes, and wastage to optimize resource utilization and minimize expenses.
- Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on food quality or guest satisfaction.
- Work closely with management to develop budgets and financial targets for the kitchen department.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a chef specializing in Indian, Continental, or Chinese cuisine, preferably in a hostel, hotel, or restaurant setting.
- Strong culinary skills and expertise in the chosen cuisine, including knowledge of traditional cooking techniques and authentic ingredients.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to upholding high hygiene standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: ₹9,679.60 - ₹15,000.00 per month
