Duties

Advises USG personnel on shipping entitlements, importation/purchase/registration/ licensing of motor vehicles, importation and registration of pets, and customs processing for high-level official visitors.

Drafts diplomatic notes and other non-routine written correspondence to local government officials, DOS, and other Consulate personnel and contractors. Occasionally assists shipping and forwarding agents with drafting special correspondence related to Consulate shipments to facilitate expeditious release. Prepares and follows-up on all necessary official documentation required for incoming and outgoing shipments' customs clearances and other official documents and liaisons with host government authorities for procedural transactions.

Manages and coordinates with agency heads and control officers all the requirements for VIP and special visits, including customs and immigration, airport logistics with airports administration and authorities, and MFA clearances. Expedites the passage of official travelers through airport formalities, including liaison with immigration and customs officials on site and other airport authorities such as border police, baggage handling in the airport and seaport areas. Coordinates transportation and VIP hotel check-ins/outs.

Qualifications and Evaluations

**Requirements**:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the field of international customs, shipping, logistics or transportation is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Detailed knowledge of local government import/export and customs laws, policies and procedures, including tax policies. Detailed knowledge of local motor vehicle policies with respect to registration, transfer, licensing, and taxes.

**Education Requirements**:
Completion of two years college studies is required.

LANGUAGE:
English: Level 4 - Fluent; speaking/reading/writing, may include the ability to translate.

Bengali: Level 3 - Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writing

Hindi: Level 3 - Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writing
