Prepares monthly unit duty roaster and yearly leave plan as per departmental guidelines.
- Adjust duty roaster as per needs of unit.
- Always available at the time of handing and taking over
- Gives orientation of the unit and assists the new staff in getting her orientation checklist completed with in stipulated time. Also ensures that all her staff attends induction program
- Makes relevant area related protocols, takes classes in her unit. Ensures her staff attends all In-Service education classes and gets certified on mandatory certification programs
- Keep records of her staffs belt status and attendance to in-services
- Makes sure that the ward stock kept replenished and accounted for at all times through proper process.
- Unit In-charge takes round of her unit to ensure safe and best care to all patients, keeping a special watch for problem areas and takes necessary steps to tackle them.
- During rounds she/he will converse with patients and family to ascertain any issues related to services of any kind and inform/liaise with other departments to resolve them.
- Informs promptly to the relevant dept. for any defective equipment, safety & health hazards
- Keeps confidential records of all staff. Documents any incident in her records for reference for annual / probation evaluations
- Teaches and demonstrates nursing skills on bed side and evaluates their skills from time to time
- Attends all In-service and gets certified on mandatory programs and updates her belts
- Reports any untoward incident of her unit to the head of Nursing and formulates plan of action
- Identifies potential problem areas and takes steps to prevent flaming up of the problem
- Makes rounds with consultants. Completes any other assignments given by superiors.
- To ensure duties of bedside nurse when required.
- Completes any other assignments given by superiors.
- Will ensure complete hand over of patients is given to the next shift
- Will help the new staff to get inducted into the system faster
- Will ensure the work does not suffer because of non availability of items
- Ensures an environment free from noise, bad odors, safe disposal of infected material is done
- Will provide safety to the patient and staff from mechanical, chemical thermal or bacteriological injuries
- Will assist her staff in their development
- Will help administration in the assessment of nurses for promotions & corrective actions
- Will establish and re-in force patient care standards prescribed in the nursing protocols
Will facilitate to set high standards of patient care and help achieve the organizational goals
