Role: Permanent

Location: Harman, ITPL ,Bangalore, India.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Installing Postgres on different flavors of Unix environments.
- Tunning PostgreSQL configuration parameters.
- Creating databases, Tablespaces and users/schemas.
- Controls privileges and permissions to database users.
- Work closely with business and IT associates, and outside vendors to effectively choose, plan, deploy and maintain system changes.
- Provide 24x7 support of the PostgreSQL environment, including on call support.
- Performs capacity planning
- Having exposure on different kinds of backups and restore activities.
- Have working knowledge on postgres high availability.
- Having good exp. On troubleshooting performance issues.
- Able to perform maintenance activities to improve performance.
- Good experience on migration activities from oracle to postgres using ora2pg and as well as mysql to postgres.
- Pgpool configuration, Maintaining and troubleshooting the same incase of any issues.
- Having knowledge on third party tools such as pgbadger, pgloader, Barman and pgbackrest.
- Performing upgrade using pg_upgrade utility from lower version to higher version.
- Develops standardization of documentation and researches new features and best practices
- Understand the DBAs challenges, deliver a technical solution that meets the unique needs of DBAs with innovation and automation
- Learn continuously, leveraging training resources and self-directed training, sharing knowledge and skills with rest of the team
