Perfusionist

**Location**: Andheri West, Mumbai

**Qualification**: B.Sc. Degree from a recognized university Certificate in Perfusion Technology (awarded by a recognized Institution/ Association/Authority such as Association of Thoracic and Cardio Vascular Surgeons of India) after training in a Centre./ MSC/ ECMO Specialist

**Experience**: Min 5+ years

**JOB REQUIREMENT (SKILLS)**:

- Competence in cardiac assist devices to include VADs, ECMO, IABP, PCPS, left heart bypass, VV bypass for liver transplant, hyperthermic isolated limb perfusion, and autotransfusion, to include platelet gel processing.
- Exposure to hazardous waste and infectious materials.

**JOB PURPOSE**:

- Assess, plan and implement the patient care requirements and treatment necessary for cardiopulmonary bypass/assistance before, during or after surgery. Operate the heart/lung machine to support the patient.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**Management of Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB)**
- To appropriately assess patient profile and manage CPB.
- To use appropriate equipment/supplies and monitor data based on patient profile (age, condition, procedure).
- To appropriately communicate with open-heart team personnel during procedures.
- To recognize and resolve variances and abnormal situations that may arise.

**Ancillary Perfusion Procedures**
- To assess patient profile and manage ancillary procedures by using appropriate equipment and monitoring data.
- To recognize when situations are critical, notify appropriate personnel and assist as needed.
- To troubleshoot all technical devices.

**Information Management**
- To create and maintain accurate, complete and legible records.
- To communicate product failures, technical and patient incidents & complete and file necessary paperwork and labeling according to departmental policy.
- Appropriate database information entry.
- To maintain patient confidentiality.

**Other Functions**:

- To maintain supplies.
- To prepare duty rota of Perfusionist.
- To coordinate with departmental personnel to solve problems concerning patient care, departmental policy, treatment procedures and equipment.
