Hvac Draftman

Job Summary:
An HVAC Draftsman creates detailed technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role involves translating engineering designs into accurate and precise CAD drawings, collaborating with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure systems are effective, efficient, and comply with building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings and schematics for HVAC systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software.
- Prepare ductwork layouts, equipment placement diagrams, piping, and wiring plans for HVAC systems.
- Work closely with HVAC engineers and designers to ensure drawings adhere to design specifications and project requirements.
- Update and modify existing HVAC drawings and plans based on feedback from engineers or changes in design.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local codes, and safety regulations in all designs.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve any design conflicts or challenges.
- Perform site visits to gather measurements and verify design feasibility.
- Assist in the preparation of bills of materials, quantity take-offs, and other technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation throughout the design process.

**Requirements**:

- Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Drafting, HVAC Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as an HVAC Draftsman or in a similar drafting role (1-3 years preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software. Familiarity with HVAC design software like Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or other load calculation tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork design, and mechanical equipment layouts.
- Familiarity with building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) practices.
- Knowledge of sustainable design and energy-efficient HVAC solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Work Environment:

- Primarily office-based but may require occasional site visits for measurements or design verification.
- Collaborates with engineering teams, project managers, and clients to deliver project requirements on time and within scope.
