**Your Role and Responsibilities**
The IBM Cloud Databases (ICD) team is responsible for developing and operating the Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings that provide Database as a Services (DBaaS) in IBM Cloud.

ICD is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in PostgreSQL. The SME will develop configuration, scripts, and other tooling to bootstrap and allow PostgreSQL to run in our highly available Kubernetes & Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based Cloud Environment. The SME will participate in the design of the service, writing tools and automation, building containers, developing tests, determining monitoring best practices and handling complex customer escalations. The SME must have a deep understanding of the PostgreSQL server software, HA configurations, and general operations in a production environment.

**Required Technical and Professional Expertise**
- 5+ years with the build, installation, and runtime of PostgreSQL.
- 5+ years with operating PostgreSQL in an HA, production environment.
- Advanced scripting in Python.
- Experience with building containerized services.

**Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise**
- The use of Kubernetes in a production environment.
- Operating a database service in a large scale environment.
- Knowledge of SQL best practices, including schema and index designs.
