Job Description: Lab Technician at Abhasa Rehabilitation Center

Location: Abhasa Rehabilitation Center - Thondamuthur

Summary:
The Lab Technician at Abhasa Rehabilitation Center is responsible for conducting various medical laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. They play a crucial role in supporting the healthcare team by accurately performing and documenting laboratory tests, ensuring the timely delivery of results, and maintaining a clean and organized lab environment.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct a wide range of medical laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids, using appropriate techniques and equipment.

2. Sample Collection and Processing: Collect patient samples as per established protocols, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage to maintain sample integrity.

3. Analyze Results: Analyze test results accurately, interpret findings, and report the results to the medical staff promptly.

4. Quality Control: Perform routine quality control checks on laboratory equipment, reagents, and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

5. Maintenance and Calibration: Regularly maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

6. Data Entry and Record Keeping: Record test results and other relevant data accurately in the laboratory information system (LIS) or designated records, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection policies.

7. Compliance with Safety Standards: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment. Properly dispose of hazardous materials following established guidelines.

8. Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and medical technologists, to discuss patient test results and ensure coordinated patient care.

9. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of laboratory supplies and reagents. Place orders for supplies when needed and keep track of inventory.

10. Training and Development: Stay updated with the latest advancements in laboratory technology and techniques. Participate in training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

11. Adherence to Regulations: Comply with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to medical laboratory practices and safety.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized certifying agency is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a medical laboratory or healthcare setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in test performance and result reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer skills.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
