**JOB TITLE**:SEND Coordinator and Teacher

**REPORTING TO**: Academic Principal

**COLLABORATES WITH**: Teachers and Residential Life staff

**PURPOSE**: The SEND Coordinator ensures that SEND needs are being met in classes, during out of school activities and support staff to achieve this.

The SEND Coordinator:

- Ensures that SEND students take as full a part as possible in school activities.
- Ensures all students follow a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Recognises the importance of the role of parents and care-takers by keeping them fully informed of their child’s progress.
- Promotes inclusion and equal opportunity for students.
- Recognises and celebrates the achievements of all students.
- Ensures all strategies are in place to identify students’ needs and put in place an appropriate differentiated curriculum and where necessary individual support programmes.
- Works in partnership with parents and carers/caretakers and that parent/caretaker participation in the review of their child’s needs is promoted and enabled.
- Enable staff to attend training to meet the needs of individuals and groups.
- Works with individual students and small groups of students in the classroom to support their learning.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The SEND Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the SEND Policy and is responsible in particular for:

- The day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND Policy and coordinating provision for students with SEND, particularly through SEND support, working closely with staff, parents and caretakers.
- Liaising with and advising other members of school staff.
- Advising on the graduated approach to providing SEND support.
- Maintaining the school’s SEND Register and overseeing the records of all students with SEND as well as coordinating Support Plans.
- Liaising with parents and caretakers of students with SEND.
- Liaising with the school counsellor for the social and emotional and behavioural development of SEND students.
- Managing and deploying support staff.
- Identifying students at the beginning of each academic year for examination access arrangements.
- Coordinating the range of support available to students with SEND.
- Coordinate assessment data and provide results to all staff.
- Ensure interventions are in place for children who need additional support.
- Work with the teachers and identify students for support.
- Implement access/special arrangements for all internal and external exams/ tests.
- Work with SEND students in the classroom.

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of four years of experience in the relevant field
- Computer skills at a level that permits effective communication
- Ability to work effectively in a team, preferably involving both national and international staff

**PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- International experience in a multicultural environment
- Experience working in an international environment
- Familiarity with Loom, Padlet, Zoom, Office, G Suite
