The Australian Army Band Adelaide (AAB-A) remains the primary musical capability for Army in South Australia and provides support to Defence units and the regional community. Capabilities include a big band, jazz ensemble, brass quintet, fanfare team, rock band and a marching band for ceremonial occasions. The band is a 40 piece entertainment ensemble that performs everything from jazz to classical and Broadway musicals to rock. The band prides itself on performing concert programmes that appeal to all age groups and all tastes of music, setting it apart from other musical ensembles. This distinguished group of musicians maintain a high standard of performance at official and public events in both Adelaide and regional South Australia.

The Australian Army Band Adelaide placement will be held on Tuesday evenings at the AAB-A headquarters at the Warradale Army Barracks from 7pm to 10pm. To ensure maximum benefit from the opportunity, the student will need commit to a minimum of four Tuesday evenings. Students may participate in the following activities:

- Rehearsals with full concert band and/or jazz orchestra
- Sectional and group rehearsals within specific instrument family (e.g. Woodwind/Brass/Rhythm)
- Participate in performance (strictly upon negotiation with the Music Director and dependent upon timing and location.
