Database Administrator is needed to perform the following duties: Installing and configuring new SQL Server 2014 database instances and PostgreSQL 9.5/9.6/10.5/11.1/11.5 database instances. Installing, configuring and administering SQL Server 2014 in both standalone and clustered environments. Installing, configuring and administering PostgreSQL 9.5/9.6/10.5 server instances on both windows 2012 and linux systems. Upgrade PostgreSQL 9.5/9.6 to latest versions. Designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster recovery solutions. Configure and maintain database servers and processes, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. Designing and implementing streaming replication and PITR. Designing and implementing High Availability with Alwayson Availability groups and failover clustering. Designing and implementing Disaster recovery solutions using Mirroring/Log Shipping. Developing and implementing robust backup and restore strategies using Full, Diff and Log Backups. Ensuring all database are backed up in a way that meets the business’s Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). Regularly test backups to ensure the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are met. Performing various database operations including: Creating and managing user logins, permissions and database access. Deploy database change scripts. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. Troubleshooting and resolving Database performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues using DMV’s, Activity Monitor and PerfMon. Developing, scheduling and monitoring sql agent jobs and cron jobs. Developing and designing data flow packages to copy data from production into development environments. Configure SQL Server monitoring and nagios monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms. Automating daily and weekly maintenance plans like index rebuild, vacuum db etc. Developing SQL Scripts for maintaining administrative tasks. Monitor and plan for system performance, capacity, maintain the database logs and monitor space requirements. Documentation of SQL Server system and database operations, technical specifications, functional specifications, best practices, policies and procedures. Bachelor Degree is required in Computer Science or Information Technology or Information Systems.
