- 11/20/2023 (MM/DD/YYYY) at 11:59pm UTC**Description**The WB Finance & Accounting (WFA) Vice Presidency is responsible for all aspects of the financial reporting and internal control framework for IBRD and IDA, and the extensive Trust Fund/Partnership portfolio of the WB entities. It supports an appropriate fiduciary control framework and administering disbursements for Bank lending and leads the client service function for the WB’s corporate expenses.Organizationally, WFA is comprised of three departments: (1) Corporate Accounting and Reporting, (2) Trust Funds and Loans, and (3) Financial Controls. In Controller’s our mandate supports both internal and external clients while we focus on delivery, optimization, impact, and people & culture.The WFA Financial Controls (WFAFC) department is responsible for providing corporate accounting services for the WBG entities. The department consists of three divisions - WFA Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Tax (WFAPT), WFA Accounts Payable, Travel and Quality Assurance (WFATA) and WFA Country Office Accounting and Ask Accounting (WFACO).

**Unit Context**:
WFATA is responsible for accounts payable, fixed assets and lease accounting, quality assurance (QA) program, travel accounting, sanctions screening and SAP security oversight. It also provides strategic leadership and guidance to business units across the WBG on developing and maintaining an effective system of internal controls over these functions.The QA Program assesses the WBG Units’ compliance with administrative expense policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions as appropriate. In collaboration with the Units and stakeholders, the program monitors compliance and strengthens internal controls by building awareness of compliance trends and exceptions. It identifies opportunities to strengthen controls and simplify processes through behavioral, policy, process and system changes. It also provides a basis for management’s annual assertions regarding controls over administrative expenses.The Travel Accounting and Quality Assurance unit (WFATQ) located in Chennai, India, functionally reports to WFATA and supports WFATA in the effective delivery of the QA Program.WFATQ is currently seeking an Extended Term Temporary for its QA team in Chennai, India, reporting to the Team Lead. Primary area of responsibility is to ensure best-in-class service delivery for the QA program.**What you will do**

**Quality Assurance Reviews**:

- Review of the WBG’s administrative and capital expense transactions to verify accuracy of records, compliance with Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Assess controls relating to WBG country offices by conducting scorecard, on-site, and remote/deep dive reviews.
- Follow-up with the units on appropriate and timely submission of documentation and clarifications for review.

**Accounting**:

- Prepare trial balance reports covering administrative expense ledger accounts and provide appropriate analyses of expenses, coordinate with the Analyst and TL for sign-off to the reporting units.

**Financial Analysis**:

- Identify themes, trends, and emerging risks as part of continuous monitoring activities and support the visualization, presentation of the analyses.
- Perform ad hoc analytics requests.

**What you will bring**

**Education**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Ex. Finance, Accounting, Taxation)
- CA, CPA or equivalent designation, not mandatory, but is a plus

**Experience**:

- 0-1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, accounting controls over accounting processes and financial reporting operations; familiarity with generally accepted auditing standards in these areas.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to collate, organize and interpret data, assess issues, develop sound conclusions, formulate remedial measures with attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain and express views/opinions clearly and confidently
- Ability to deal sensitively in a multi-cultural environment and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues
- Exhibit a personality that enables the incumbent to be client focused, flexible and an excellent team player. Ability to effectively work with other staff in the department and elsewhere in the Bank.
