**Job Description: Veterinary Assistant - Free Treatment Centre for Stray Animals**

Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a free treatment centre for stray animals, focusing on dogs and cats, located in Goa. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care and support to stray animals in need. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting veterinarians with treatments, managing animal records, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for animals.

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Animal Care and Treatment**:

- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care and treatment to stray animals.
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations, vaccinations, and medical procedures.
- Administer medications, under the supervision of a veterinarian, and ensure accurate record keeping.
- Monitor animals' post-operative recovery and provide post-operative care as directed.
- Assist with euthanasia procedures, as necessary, while maintaining sensitivity and compassion.

**2. Animal Handling and Restraint**:

- Safely handle and restrain animals during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor to minimize stress and ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
- Follow proper protocols for animal handling and restraint to prevent injury or escape.

**3. Animal Record Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate and updated records of animals, including medical histories, treatments, and vaccinations.
- Assist with electronic record management, ensuring completeness and organization.
- Collect and record data on animal health and behavior as required.

**4. Facility Maintenance and Sanitation**:

- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, examination rooms, and other areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for animals.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste, including hazardous materials, following established protocols.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.

**5. Client Interaction and Education**:

- Interact with clients, volunteers, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide basic information and education to clients regarding animal care, vaccinations, and sterilization.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in an animal care facility, veterinary clinic, or related field is preferred.
- Passion for animal welfare and a genuine interest in providing care for stray animals.
- Strong animal handling skills, with the ability to safely restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Basic knowledge of animal health, common diseases, and preventive care.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team and interact with clients and volunteers.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry animals and supplies.

Working Conditions:

- This position requires working in an animal care facility with exposure to animals, animal hair, dander, and odors.
- Regular standing, bending, and lifting are required.
- Work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional evening hours.

**Salary**: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
