Category Buyer for Pulp and Energy Business Line (based in Chennai, India)

Are you the enthusiastic, self-driven and result-oriented professional who wants to move our customer’s performance forward?

We are looking for “Category Buyer” to be based in Chennai, India. This position reports to “Head, India Supply Center”. In this position you will have an opportunity to plan and execute assigned category procurement.

What you will do at Valmet:
Plan and execute assigned procurement of equipment, materials and services according to the established supply plan, quality requirements and Project Schedule within the budget. Execute procurement of assigned Global Category according to the supply plans. Efficiently coordinating with Suppliers, Quality, Logistics, Projects and Internal stake holders, according to business needs during procurement Liaise with project management, production or other function to specify the need for procurement solutions Responsible for supplier mapping and sourcing activities to ensure sufficient supplier market knowledge and manage supplier relations Ensure purchasing of relevant materials according to business needs by executing the below tasks.
- Create, send, receive, and evaluate RFQ packages
- Check potential volume pooling opportunities for assigned categories
- Create negotiation strategy, execute supplier negotiations, and create contracts/purchase orders
- Initiate or execute purchase order creation in ERP.
- Initiate or execute archiving of contracts/purchase orders
- Communicate contracts/purchase order content with key stakeholders
- Stay updated on delivery quality status on own contracts/purchase orders
- Execute closing, administration and invoice matching of own Purchase Orders/Contracts
- Manage commercial aspects of purchase orders such as change requests and claims
- Stay updated on category strategies affecting area of responsibility
- Proactively share local information with category manager and category teams
- Give input to Cost of Poor-Quality information

Ensure needed logistic and transportation solutions till delivery. Effectively Coordinate within the team and by identifying development activities Ultimately responsible for cost, time and quality for executed purchase orders including change requests and claims Adhering to company’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures Adhering to company’s Values, Business principles and Code of conduct

To succeed this role, you will need:
Bachelor’s degree at Electrical / Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience & Overall Experience less than 10 Years. Effective written and oral communication skills in English. MS Office skills Preferred
