Working with third-party Telecom and Data Centre providers, Access Process Designers are accountable for understanding, capturing, and supplying our key stakeholders with the operational interlock between BT and its supplier. Our delivery is a documented view of how to engage with a supplier to order, modify, fault, and eventually cease a customer access circuit. These customer circuits can range from basic internet connections, through an expanse of Ethernet options, and right up to 100 Gigabit Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM/Wave) solutions. Datacentre cross-connects also feature in our work as BT launches its Global Fabric offering.
- Access Process Designers are vital to the successful launch of BT’s target access suppliers and operate in every region of the globe. We engage with a wide range of suppliers such as AT&T and Verizon (USA), Colt (Europe), Telstra (Australia), Telefonica (LATAM), Softbank (Japan), and also data centres such as Equinix. You will find us launching suppliers for BT’s standard requirements, for Global Fabric, and for key Divestments. We strive to strike the balance between providing the best possible service to our customer, at the best cost to the business, without compromising quality. Our chief export is the Access Supplier Operations Manual (aSOM) which is the interlock capture, which is in turn reviewed and signed off by stakeholders such as Service Introduction, Access Costing, Delivery, Operations, Cease, and the supplier themselves. These documents are then stored in our Library which BT operational teams can access.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Your role is to work as part of a virtual team to formally launch new wholesale connectivity varieties from global Telecom and Data Centre suppliers.
- In the virtual team you’ll work alongside other BT specialists, such as Procurement, Access Commercial Managers, Access Design, Delivery Management, Network Planning, and Product Line.
- You are to self-manage supplier launch projects assigned to you in an ‘Agile’ fashion, analysing the situation, and overcoming obstacles, to meet the target completion date.
- Manage several supplier access launch projects at the same time, while understanding where you should focus any specific attention to maximise effect and meet milestones and deadlines.
- Contact third-party access suppliers directly and arrange calls and larger meetings to discuss their operational ways of working.
- Maintain your project’s timeline using the ‘Agile’ project management tool ‘JIRA’, recording updates so that others can track your progress.
- Attend ‘Agile’ Scrum and Sprint calls where you will provide feedback to the project’s Delivery Manager on supplier data and your deliverables.
- Instigate and manage BT operational relationships covering all functions involved in the journey from first supplier engagement to final stakeholder sign off.
- Manage the expectations of relevant BT stakeholders, following up on an any questions or concerns they have with a forthcoming supplier launch.
- Understand a supplier’s operational portal or other ordering/fault engagement mechanisms and provide any relevant support documents and demo recordings to BT operational ‘Gold-users’.
- Maintain a post-launch watch on your deliverables for early orders that may experience issues.
- Oversee a small group of third-party sub-contractors undertaking the same work.
Skills required for the job
- Have proven experience dealing with a range of Telecom and Data Centre providers (access connectivity suppliers) across the globe.
- A confident individual able to chair meetings and speak directly to these suppliers in their own time-zones. Occasional early or late meetings will be necessary.
- A good understanding of access circuits such as Internet, Ethernet, Dense Wave Division Multiplexing, and Cross-Connects.
- Understand the general work of delivery and/or repair teams that face into Telecom/Data Centres.
- Process Design: Proven experience of creating and documenting an end-to-end process - that includes a deliverable that is as an ‘Operations support document’, and a ‘portal user guide’.
- Have previously sucessfully completed training for the Accreditation Learning Pathway (ALP) Process Bronze Accreditation (Version: 2). INTERNAL REQUIREMENT ONLY
