**Job Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Splice fiber optic cables using fusion splicing techniques to ensure low signal loss and reliable connectivity.
- Perform fiber optic cable terminations, including connectors and mechanical splices.
- Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic infrastructure, including aerial, underground, and indoor cabling.
- Conduct fiber optic network testing using OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers) and other testing equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Troubleshoot fiber optic network issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Follow safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment and reliable network performance.
- Document all splicing and testing activities, including fiber optic cable routes, splice locations, and test results.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to plan and execute fiber optic network installations and upgrades.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in fiber optic technology and best practices in splicing and network maintenance.
**Requirements**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in fiber optic splicing preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fiber Splicer or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency in fusion splicing techniques and fiber optic cable termination methods.
- Familiarity with fiber optic network testing equipment, such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technology, including types of fiber, cable structures, and transmission protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve fiber optic network issues.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, as necessary, to access fiber optic cable installations.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow technical specifications and safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
