Operation Technician

An Operation Theatre Technician (OTT) is a trained healthcare professional who assists the surgical team in the operating room during surgical procedures. Their main responsibilities include preparing the operating room for surgery, sterilizing surgical instruments, and assisting the surgical team during the procedure.

Some of the specific tasks that an OTT may perform include setting up surgical equipment, maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring patients during surgery, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting with the administration of anesthesia.

To become an OTT, one typically needs to complete a certificate or diploma program in surgical technology, which can take anywhere from several months to two years to complete. Some programs may also require students to complete an internship or clinical practicum in a hospital or surgical setting.

After completing their training, OTTs may work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics. They may also choose to specialize in a particular area of surgery, such as orthopedic surgery, cardiac surgery, or neurosurgery.
