Organization Information

Since its inception in 2016, Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRI) has been deeply focused on an
integrated approach to village development to accelerate mobility across all generations. We believe in bringing
solutions through multi-sector changes through engaging community-based institutes like Self Help Groups (SHGs),
Panchayati Raj Institutes (PRIs) and Front-Line Workers (FLWs) together to closely work with the government.

TRI works directly with more than one million people in 2000 villages across India’s poorest states and impacts close
to over 60 million rural Indians through its formal engagement with governments at different levels.

TRI in close collaboration with the SRLM plans to develop a scalable model for intensification of livelihoods. The idea
is to pilot and demonstrate intensive action around livelihoods in selected blocks. The Community Action Lab will
focus on development of a “model” covering - staffing structure, institutional arrangements, enabling guidelines from
the state, community processes on the ground, planning-review mechanisms, etc., which can be scaled up across the
entire operational area of SRLM at Chhattisgarh and UP. While Public Policy in Action will focus on development
and advocacy for public policies aiming for pushing TRI’s Farm Prosperity strategy.

Primary Role of the position:
This position will lead and support livelihood related activities in the intervention blocks.

Key Accountabilities:
Jagdalpur (Bastar), Chhattisgarh

A strategically important and cross-sector role that will take responsibility for developing and delivering
impactful prototypes on agriculture and allied sectors on the ground

To create the policy insights based on the evidence generated from the ground level innovations and
community processes

Support the Community Action Labs (CALs) to help farm business to succeed and integration of different
programs, projects and initiatives across CALs

Work and co-ordinate cross - functionally with District/block level boards and chief advisers, industry supply
chains and external organizations with a farming and food interest

Develop content, training modules and handle farm operations on the field
Ensure that the community identifies needs in the relevant areas, and they are addressed and that

development and extension activities around farm/agriculture are undertaken to meet these needs
Assist the management with project reporting, reviews and evaluations

Strengthen community capacity to carry out activities and economic analysis of interventions, ensure a
participatory approach and that interventions are consistent with a community centered best practice

Assess the status of collective formation, savings accumulation and investment, market access, training &
demonstration on the agri-livelihoods of the community, focusing on gender equity, climate action and
suggest future actions to enhance their sustainability

Plan, implement, monitor and supervise the implementation of the Farm Prosperity engagement of RIF as
well as State/District priorities

Prepare technical reports on activities undertaken during the assignment, and prepare technical guidelines,
field documents, and training material designed to meet the needs of farmers, teams and govt functionaries
and with extensive use of illustrations and visual and pictorial portrayal of information

Preparation of detailed annual action plan (बीज से बाजार तक) and regular tracking, (In sync with various
livelihood activities as per SRLM Livelihood Annual Action plan, Agriculture and other line departments)

Documentation of best practices, report writing and developing presentations
Any other task assigned by the Reporting Officer

Coordination with our blocks and district peers, to influence policies as well as collaborate in building
alliances between regional actors that support TRI objectives and action

Develop and advocate for public polices aiming for pushing TRI’s Farm Prosperity strategy free commodity
supply chain, regenerative agriculture, low carbon agriculture, agri-nutrition, gender integration, income
enhancement and other conservation strategies in the agriculture sector

Constantly interact with policymakers and implementers exchanging information and supporting decision
making with scientific-based and accurate data

Monitor government initiatives, public policies, public financing mechanism for agriculture, as well as law
propositions in state and national level, including but not limited to the Ministry of Agriculture and other
departments that can work together for advancements in agriculture
