Ansible Automation Architect

About the role

The Ansible Automation Architect role is an integral member of our automation services team.

The team provide Ansible Automation services to internal customers seeking assistance with automation use cases including solution design, engineering, and management.

The architect is a customer facing technical role responsible for designing automation solutions to customer requirements using the features and capabilities of Red Hat’s Ansible Automation Platform.

The architect will work closely with customers, automation developers and team stakeholders including the Service Delivery Product Owner, Ansible Automation Specialist, Ansible Automation

Platform Owner, and Customer Success Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot quality, scalable, distributable Ansible content in an enterprise environment.
- Assist with the facilitation of automation use case discovery sessions, including customer requirements gathering and documentation of use case scope documentation.
- Brief customers on both the platform and service capabilities of the Technical Automation

Team
- Design and architect modular and reusable automation that satisfies customer requirements.
- Ensure solution development and delivery aligns with solution design and customer expectations.
- Provide technical escalation for automation development during service delivery and service support.
- Ensure processes and tooling associated with the development and maintenance of automation products meet industry best practice.
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at both a business and technical level.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the Technical Automation DevOps Team.
- Support the product development and adoption/implementation of automation products within BHP, through collaboration with the Ansible Service Owner and key vendors (for example, Red Hat).
- Engage in continuous improvement activities to support the development and deployment of technical automation covering requirements, design, build, test, and release management.

About you
- 5+ years’ experience designing and delivering technology solutions in enterprise teams.
- 2+ years’ experience designing and delivering mature, high value Ansible content with AAP.
- Ability to assess current business processes and identify problems.
- A desire to start and maintain the automation process from start to finish, architecting the framework.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines, working both independently and as a member of a team.
- Experience working within an Agile software development team, with an understanding of

Scrum methodology (preferred).
- Proficient communicator (written and verbal), with the ability to tailor communication styles at both a business and technical level.
- Analytical and highly disciplined problem solver with a demonstrated ability to successfully design and deliver functional automation solutions.
- Demonstrated experience delivering use cases with core target technologies such as Linux,

ID (AAD), ServiceNow.
- Ability to create easily readable process flow diagrams to visualise business processes being automated, including business logic, technologies and key stakeholders involved in the process.
- Can describe in technical and non-technical terms, automation usage patterns for AAP such as ITSM driven, event driven automation and AAP native.
- Can explain the fundamental concepts and value proposition of Ansible and how it is used to a technical and non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated experience using source code and revision control systems, along with CI/CD tools like Git.
