Key responsibilities:
The main aim of the YouTube Video Editor is to grow the Scaler YT Channels (currently only 1, would expand in the future)
exponentially by increasing subscribers, audience, and engagement. To this end, the role has 2 broad parts:
1. Video editing expertise:
a. Expertise in post production skills to make studio quality video outputs (e.g., editing, lighting, sound,
animation)
b. Liasioning with creative and production teams to publish content at a weekly cadence without missing
any deadlines
c. Editing videos for different video formats (created in house or via collaborating with influencers/other
channels, live/recorded, fireside chat vs otherwise etc) and duration (bite-sized, longer format) to
create studio quality output
2. Youtube growth expertise:
a. Editing in line with, and authoring subparts of the brand’s youtube playbook for consistency and impact
across all videos
i. playbook elements include channel design (playlists, video formats etc.) and video design
thumbnails, playlists, end-screens etc.)

b. Editing production outputs in line with insights gleaned from Youtube Studio
i. Using nuanced metrics (e.g., audience retention graphs, watch time, audience demographic
spreads, competitive benchmarking to other channels) to improve channel productions
c. Running micro experiments to identify scalable and high-impact digital content to build the Scaler
brand nationally and internationally
d. Increasing # of video views/video, subscriber base and building an engaged community, using data
- Preferred experience:

- 3+ years of experience in a similar role with a proven track record
- Working knowledge of video editing and Youtube
- Preferred experience in the entertainment or education space

Must-Have Mindsets and Skillsets:

- Skillsets
- Excellent track record: Track record of growing a youtube channel 10x in a 1-2 year timespan
- Idea generation ability basis consumer insights - Granular understanding of youtube behaviour of our

customers and the ability to generate fresh ideas to wow them
- Video editing expertise: Expertise in post production skills (e.g., editing, sound effects, animations)

and fluency in all skills across the production value chain from pre (e.g., storyboarding, scripting,
screenplay) to during (e.g., lighting, camerawork, audio) to post
- This would need to be different for different types of videos (baseline quality, high frequency

releases v/s premium quality low frequency releases)
- Youtube channel design & video design: Editing fluency in optimizing channel macro elements (e.g.,

video release calendar, playlists, about page, logo) and micro elements (e.g., thumbnails, end screens,

annotations)
- Iterative problem-solving: which translates to structuring problems and iterating on

creative/implementable solutions
- The Ability To Hustle: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous environment

where multitasking and prioritizing is highly essential
- Detail-orientation: Ability to critically analyse problems and solutions in-depth, with an eye for

zero-defect outputs
- Mindsets
- Tolerance for ambiguity: which translates to a ‘get-it-done rather than wait-for-perfection’ approach
