Duty Medical Officer

Job Responsibilities:
1. **Patient Assessment and Care (Ward and Casualty)**
- **Initial Assessment**: Evaluate the patient's medical condition upon admission to the ward or casualty, gather medical history, and perform necessary physical examinations.
- **Emergency Response**: Provide immediate medical attention to critically ill or injured patients in the casualty (ER), ensuring proper triage and prioritization of cases.
- **Diagnosis and Treatment**: Establish a preliminary diagnosis and begin treatment, including administering medications, ordering investigations, and providing wound care or resuscitation.
- **Monitor Patient Progress**: In the ward, monitor patients' condition regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary. In casualty, stabilize patients before transferring them to appropriate departments.
- **Emergency Procedures**: Perform life-saving procedures such as CPR, intubation, trauma care, or resuscitation.
- **Supervise Junior Staff**: Guide and supervise nursing staff, medical students, and junior doctors, ensuring proper medical protocols are followed.
- **Interdisciplinary Collaboration**: Coordinate with specialists, senior doctors, and other medical professionals for comprehensive patient care, particularly when complex or specialized treatment is required.
- **Documentation**: Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of patient details, treatment plans, observations, and follow-ups.
- **Admission Procedures**: Oversee the admission process for patients in the ward, ensuring they are assigned the appropriate beds and that necessary investigations are ordered.
- **Discharge Planning**: Evaluate patients' progress and make decisions regarding discharge. Provide post-discharge instructions and arrange for follow-up care if needed.
- **Maintain Medical Records**: Ensure that all patient records are accurately maintained and updated, adhering to hospital protocols and legal requirements.
- **Incident Reporting**: Report any incidents, complications, or unusual events, such as medical errors, patient falls, or adverse reactions, to the relevant authorities.
- **Minor Surgeries and Procedures**: Perform minor surgical interventions, such as suturing wounds, draining abscesses, and other necessary procedures in casualty and the ward.
- **Administering Medications**: Prescribe and administer medication according to the patient's diagnosis and condition.
- **First Aid and Triage**: In casualty, perform triage to assess the severity of injuries or illnesses and prioritize treatment based on urgency.
- **Handling Mass Casualty Events**: In emergency situations like accidents or natural disasters, the DMO is responsible for managing multiple casualties, providing immediate care, and coordinating with other departments.
- **Liaise with Family Members**: Communicate with patients' families to update them on their loved ones' conditions, treatments, and any required actions.
- **Patient Education**: Provide health education, preventive care guidance, and rehabilitation advice to patients and their families.
- **Handovers**: Ensure proper handover of patients and cases to the next shift of medical professionals, ensuring continuity of care.
- **Adherence to Protocols**: Ensure that the treatment provided is in line with hospital protocols and ethical standards.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Comply with health and safety regulations, infection control standards, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- **Emergency Duty**: As a Duty Medical Officer, be available for emergency on-call shifts during nights, weekends, and public holidays, ensuring availability for urgent medical issues.
- **Shift Handover**: Properly hand over cases to the next shift, including updating on any ongoing treatments, procedures, and concerns.
- **Continuous Learning**: Stay updated on the latest medical guidelines, procedures, and practices. Attend workshops, seminars, or training sessions relevant to the duties.
- **Mentoring**: Assist in training new medical officers and interns in the protocols and expectations for casualty and ward duties.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
