**NEED FOR TRANSLATION**:
Currently, we have a challenge of incorrect disease name translation. This means that our tool sometimes identifies चेचक, chicken pox in Hindi as “smallpox”. Since smallpox is the only human eradicated disease, incorrect translation leads to an incorrect media alert leading to panic. There are various other cases wherein translation heavily affects the central user’s ability to verify an article, having to rely on google translate of source article. Since, sometimes Google translate does a better job at translation of these disease names.

Thus, for fine tuning our Translation model to improve disease translation as well as improving our disease extraction component, we need a more holistic media disease keyword list then what we have currently for 116 diseases/symptoms and incidents across Human, Animal and Environmental Health.

**REQUIREMENTS SHARED BY VENDOR**:
The requirement was for the individual to translate/transliterate a particular disease keywords in all the 10 Indic languages that our tool covers. They also needed to add new/local keywords beyond the existing ones in the present list. Our MDS tool currently covers the following Indic languages: 1. Hindi, 2. Gujarati, 3. Bengali, 4.Kannada, 5. Malayalam, 6. Marathi, 7. Oriya, 8. Telugu, 9. Tamil, 10. Punjabi.

**FRAMEWORK & TRANSLATION**

1. All the Media Scanning terms must be translated to the 10 Indian languages. Mention all the synonymous words in that local language. For example: While translating Diarrhea into Gujarati, mention અતિ સાર and ઝાડા and all other synonyms used in Gujarati. While translating Diarrhea into Malayalam, mention വയറി ളക്കം and അതി സാ രം and other synonyms in Malayalam.

2. All the Media Scanning terms must be transliterated into the Indian language. For example: Transliteration of Diarrhea into Gujarati, ડાયરિેરિયા.

3. All the synonyms which are acronyms must be transliterated into the Indian language. For example: Acute Respiratory Infection is acronymised into ARI and this acronym must be transliterated into all the Indian languages. Transliteration of ARI into Gujarati is એઆરઆઈ.

4. All the synonyms that are medical terminologies must be translated and transliterated into the Indian language. For example: Varicella is a synonym of Chicken-pox and must be translated into Gujarati as અછબડા and transliterated as વરેીસલે ા.

**REQUIREMENT**

We are looking for individuals with medical backgrounds to help us identify all the possible names for the media disease list terms in the mentioned languages to build a robust media scanning tool. This is a paid work opportunity of INR Rs.5,000 per language.
