Structured hybrid role:
Introduction:
The team are responsible for the management of IMS database capacity, performance and availability, providing advice and consultancy on major database changes.

What will you be doing?
- Monitor incident and problem queues ensuring that Incidents are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Monitor database capacity to ensure that current sizing is not going to breach limits and take action when appropriate
- Create new procedures to accommodate changes to standard database utilities.
- Test database changes and prepare Change documentation to handover to implementation teams.
- Lead in the implementation of complex changes, teaching colleagues from own methodologies
- Proactively deliver on all activities and tasks assigned to them within the SLA to avoid any missed deadlines
- Provide in-depth verbal and/or written updates to customers on change progress
- Provide expert guidance on the change process for team and projects
- Takes the lead in complex changes and ensure the more effective resolution is selected to resolve
- Leads in the resolution of complex problems and/or incidents
- Excellent communication skills are essential to ensure team and management are kept fully up to date with any ongoing incidents which could affect service
- Use own initiative to make decisions on how best the resolve incidents and/or problems to mitigate impact on service
- In addition to communicating to the team, there may be a requirement to provide updates to a non-technical audience so the ability to adapt communication style based on audience is crucial.

What we’re looking for:

- Good knowledge of IMS Fastpath and Full Function databases
- Expert with PSB and PCB options
- Knowledge of Randomisers
- Knowledge of IMSv12 or later.
- A comprehensive understanding of the key software database toolsets from current vendor(s) - IBM/ BMC.
- Excellent working knowledge of JCL, TWS and RACF
- Application Programming background in Assembler or Cobol
- Knowledge of the IMS Catalogue

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

- Graduate/ post graduate

- Comprehensive understanding of Mainframe and its benefits
- Provide on-call support for production systems
- Undertakes complex changes

- Strong MS Office skills to be used for presentations, data analysis and document writing.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills - able to deal with Project Managers, Delivery Managers and technical colleagues from both Mainframe and non
- Mainframe areas.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain quality levels and service stability
