**A bit about us**

Muktaa Charitable Foundationis a non-profit organisation that has been working on various social issues like HIV/AIDS, addiction, sexual health awareness, gender sensitization and life skill education since 2005. We are now in the second year of our Mental Health Helpline project.

**A brief brief about the project**

MCF has recently launched a free mental health helpline that provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and empathetic care to Indian populations. We provide free, safe, anonymous and non-judgmental mental health support for people going through mental or emotional distress - over the phone. Anyone can feel free to talk to us about their emotions and feelings, how to manage them more effectively and prevent them from overwhelming you.

**Here is what we’re looking for**:
**Educational Qualifications and Work Experience**:

- a holder of a Master’s in Counselling/Clinical/Applied Psychology (minimum) from a UGC-recognized University
- At least 4-6 months of practical counselling experience via work experience or internship (preference for telephonic counselling experience)
- Strong understanding of emotional and mental health struggles of Indian populations (especially women, youth, LGBTQIA+, physically ill, low income communities, working professionals)

**Must Haves**:

- based in Pune
- interested in providing free telephonic counselling (through the helpline) to marginalised and vulnerable communities
- fluent in Marathi, Hindi and English
- willing to undergo a 3-6 month rigorous training in counselling and role responsibilities

**Skills**:

- very comfortable using technology and apps to communicate and keep track of things within the team and with clients
- passionate about empathetic, client-centric conversations
- excited about responsibilities like outreach, research, fundraising, project management, training and content creation
- interest in developing a holistic, intersectional and biopsychosocial approach to addressing mental health
- dedicated to this cause for at least 2 years
- good with deadlines, teamwork and open to feedback
- excited to learn and develop new skill sets through regular upskilling sessions
- open to cross-learning from peer-to-peer engagement

**Work Scope**

As our Telephonic Psychologists, you can look forward to an exciting and challenging career at MCF. In this role, you will be expected to use your industry knowledge, training skills and relevant procedures to therapeutically interact with callers, making them comfortable, understanding the issues they have come to you with and providing the appropriate support towards their mental and emotional well-being. In line with MCF’s holistic approach to team involvement, you will get a chance to be involved in a range of activities, including but not limited to outreach of the helpline’s services, content creation, building of a referral database, fundraising and training as you grow your career with MCF.

**Current work buckets as a telephonic psychologist at MCF**:
**Telephonic Counselling**:

- Actively and supportively listen to the individual's disclosures of emotional distress and provide a safe and holding environment for the same in a telephonic helpline set-up
- Guiding clients in the development of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems
- Assisting callers to identify psychosocial forms of support or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
- Collaborate with other staff members and industry experts to develop and implement therapy procedures, strategies and protocols
- Maintaining detailled call records, monthly reports of calls attended
- Maintaining confidentiality of records and follow relevant discretionary protocols while dealing with clients’ cases

**Community Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement**:

- Gather information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy
- Actively participating in brainstorming and execution of Outreach, Awareness and Capacity building of vulnerable and marginalised communities
- Network with stakeholders like educational institutes, primary healthcare providers, and community networks for sharing our services and raising awareness
- Creating educational and promotional content surrounding mental health for social media, newsletters, fliers, blogs and art
