**About the role**

Role: Geologist

In this role, you will:

- At least three years of mining industry experience which should include at least 2 years' experience in geological modelling & at least 1 year on-field on-site experience.
- Exposure to on-field exploration process management would be an added advantage.
- Proficient with the use of the Microsoft Suite of software (Excel, Word).

Experience in metals and coal deposits is preferable.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Exploration planning & supervision, Preparation of geological model, preparation of geological report, contractual awareness, quality control, beneficiation, reserving and reconciliation, problem solving, safety approach, hazard management.
- **KEY RESULT AREAS**:

- **Geological Model
- **Maintain and update geological and mining models used for mine planning and geological interpretation.Run and maintain reserve databases. Do risk analysis. Run reconciliation of the model using mine data. Provide reports and analysis of the findings. Provide support to tender evaluation for operations. Provide geological modelling and assessment support for technical consulting projects.
- **Quality Control
- **Monitor quality on daily basis. Liaise with mine operational people regarding coal/ non coal quality & production scheduling daily. Provide short-term schedules to mine operational people. Provide input of quantities for scheduling purposes as per client quality parameters. Liaise with in-house laboratory.
- **Mine Design, Scheduling and Haul Design
- **Identify the mining strategy in the operation point of view. Provide inputs to mine planner for preparing the optimised Pit design and Dump design. Preparation of project package for estimation and technical peer review.

**About you**
- Postgraduate in Applied Geology or equivalent
