**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Job Title: Sub Editor (Sports)**
**Reporting to**: **Chief Sub Editor**
**Location**:Belgaum
**General Description**:
A Sports sub-editor plays a crucial role in the editorial team of a newspaper. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the sports-related articles, news, features, and other content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the publication's style and standards. You will collaborate with sports journalists, reporters, and the editorial team to enhance the quality of sports content and contribute to an engaging reader experience.
**Duties/Responsibilities**:
Edit and proofread sports articles, news reports, features, match summaries, interviews, and other written content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Ensure that sports content adheres to the publication's style guide, tone, and editorial standards.
Fact-check information, verifies statistics, and cross-reference sources to ensure accuracy and credibility.
Collaborate with sports journalists, reporters, and writers to clarify information, resolve content-related issues, and enhance the quality of articles.
Write engaging headlines, subheadings, captions, and teasers that accurately reflect the content and attract readers' attention.
Ensure the correct usage of sports terminology, jargon, and specific language associated with different sports.
Stay updated with the latest sports news, events, trends, and developments to contribute to timely and relevant coverage.
Coordinate with the layout and design team to ensure the proper placement of edited sports content.
Maintain a strong understanding of different sports, leagues, tournaments, and players.
Meet strict deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently to ensure timely publication of sports content.
Provide guidance and feedback to sports writers and contributors to improve the quality of their work.
Assist in planning and executing special sports features, sections, or supplements as required.
**Required Skills/Abilities**:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, Marathi, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience as a sub editor or in a related role
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of media law
**Salary**: ₹12,982.66 - ₹27,845.70 per month

- Evening shift
