The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing support to the dentist and ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks to assist in the smooth operation of the dental practice.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Clinical Support**:

- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including fillings, extractions, and root canals.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Record patients’ medical and dental histories.
- Ensure patient comfort and manage anxiety before, during, and after dental treatments.
- Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by the dentist.
- **Administrative Duties**:

- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Maintain patient records and update dental charts.
- Handle patient inquiries and provide information about dental care.
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and place orders when necessary.
- Process payments and handle billing and insurance documentation.
- **Infection Control and Safety**:

- Follow infection control procedures to maintain a sterile and clean working environment.
- Adhere to all OSHA and dental office protocols and guidelines.
- **Patient Education**:

- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
- Provide information about dental procedures and aftercare.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; certification from an accredited dental assistant program preferred.
- State-specific licensure and certifications as required (e.g., X-ray certification).
- Previous experience as a dental assistant is an advantage but not required for entry-level positions.
- Proficiency in dental software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to handle dental instruments with precision.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
