**Job Title: Medical Insurance Officer**
**Job Overview**: As a medical insurance officer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of medical insurance claims, billing, and reimbursement processes within our organization. Your role will ensure that medical claims are processed accurately and efficiently, following all relevant regulations and guidelines. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to resolve any issues related to insurance claims.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Insurance Claims Processing**: Handle the processing of medical insurance claims, including verification of patient eligibility, submission of claims, and follow-up on unpaid or rejected claims.
- **Billing and Coding**: Ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for billing purposes, adhering to current procedural terminology (CPT) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding standards.
- **Insurance Verification**: Verify insurance coverage for patients prior to services being rendered, including checking deductible amounts, copayments, and policy limitations.
- **Documentation and Record-Keeping**: Maintain detailed and accurate records of insurance claims, payments, and billing activities. Ensure compliance with confidentiality and data protection regulations.
- **Claims Resolution**: Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to insurance claims, including denied claims, by communicating effectively with insurance companies and healthcare providers.
- **Patient Communication**: Provide clear and concise explanations of insurance benefits, coverage details, and financial responsibilities to patients. Address patient inquiries and concerns regarding insurance claims and billing.
- **Reporting**: Generate reports on insurance claim status, billing activities, and reimbursement trends. Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- **Compliance**: Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and billing guidelines. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, such as HIPAA.
