Role & responsibilities
- Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes.
- Undertake pre-processing of structured and unstructured data - Analyse large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
- Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
- Combine models through ensemble modelling.
- Present information using data visualization techniques.
- Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
- Research and develop statistical learning models for data analysis.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering departments to understand company needs and devise possible solutions.
- Keep up to date with latest technology trends.
- Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
- Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis.
- Optimize joint development efforts through appropriate database use and project design.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and trends and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support pre-sales activities, including client presentations and demonstrations.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Statistics, Applied Math, Engineering or relevant field, graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field is preferred.
- 5+ years’ practical experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst
- Experience with programming languages such as Java/Python an asset.
- Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
- Deep Knowledge of SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset. - Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop)
- Analytical mind and business acumen
- Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
- Extensive background in data mining and statistical analysis
- Able to understand various data structures and common method sin data transformation.
- Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication and presentation skill
