**Job Summary**:
The ICU Nurse is responsible for providing specialized, high-level care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves monitoring patients’ vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal care. The ICU Nurse must demonstrate advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:
1.Patient Care:
oMonitor and assess patients’ vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature.

oAdminister medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed.

oPerform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.

oProvide life support and emergency care as needed.

2.Documentation:
oMaintain accurate and detailed patient records, including observations, treatments, and responses.

oDocument and report changes in patients’ conditions to physicians and other healthcare professionals.

3.Collaboration:
oWork closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.

oParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care decisions.

oCommunicate effectively with patients’ families to provide updates and education about their loved one’s condition and treatment.

4.Patient and Family Support:
oOffer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during critical times.

oEducate families about post-ICU care and the patient’s condition.

5.Emergency Response:
o

Respond promptly to emergencies, including cardiac arrests and rapid deteriorations in patient conditions.

oUtilize advanced life support techniques and equipment as needed.

6.Infection Control and Safety:
oFollow strict infection control protocols to ensure a sterile environment and prevent healthcare-associated infections.

oAdhere to safety procedures and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

7.Professional Development:
oStay current with advancements in critical care nursing through continuing education and training.

oParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high standards of care.
