**Responsibilities**:
- Perform pulmonary function tests according to established protocols and standards.
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Prepare patients for testing, explain procedures, and address any questions or concerns.
- Conduct various pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurement, diffusion capacity testing, and bronchial provocation tests.
- Monitor patients during testing to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Evaluate test results, interpret findings, and prepare reports for review by healthcare providers.
- Assist in the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and interstitial lung disease.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate records of tests performed, patient demographics, and test results.
- Follow infection control protocols and ensure adherence to safety guidelines during testing procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of standardized procedures and protocols.
- Provide patient education on respiratory health, disease management, and lifestyle modifications.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in respiratory therapy or pulmonary function testing is preferred.
- Certification as a Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in a pulmonary function testing lab or respiratory care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of pulmonary anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting pulmonary function testing equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and documenting results.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and electronic medical record documentation.
- With one year of experience or more is required.
