The Economist at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is responsible for conducting in-depth economic research, analysis, and policy formulation to support the commission's decision-making processes. This role involves providing expert insights into economic trends, fiscal policies, and socioeconomic issues that impact the nation's development.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Economic Research and Analysis**:Conduct thorough research on economic trends, both domestic and international, to provide informed inputs for policy discussions. Analyze macroeconomic indicators, fiscal policies, trade dynamics, and other economic factors to assess their implications for the country's development.
- **Policy Formulation**:Collaborate with government agencies, departments, and stakeholders to contribute to the formulation and evaluation of economic policies and strategies. Provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance economic growth, reduce disparities, and improve the overall welfare of the population.
- **Data Analysis and Interpretation**:Gather, process, and interpret economic data to create insightful reports, presentations, and policy briefs. Utilize statistical tools and econometric models to analyze economic phenomena and predict potential outcomes of policy changes.
- **Report Writing and Presentation**:Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that communicate complex economic concepts and findings to a non-technical audience. Present research findings to the commission, government officials, and other stakeholders, influencing policy decisions.
- **Policy Impact Assessment**:Assess the potential impact of proposed policies on various sectors of the economy, considering their implications for growth, employment, inflation, and distribution.
- **Public Engagement and Education**:Engage in public discourse through seminars, workshops, and public lectures to promote economic literacy and raise awareness about key economic issues.
- **Collaboration and Networking**:Collaborate with fellow economists, researchers, and experts within and outside the government to foster cross-functional knowledge sharing.
- **Policy Advocacy and Advice**:Advise the commission on economic matters, providing well-reasoned insights and recommendations based on rigorous analysis.

**Qualifications**:

- A master's or higher degree in Economics or a related field from a recognized university.
- Demonstrated expertise in economic theory, research methodologies, and quantitative analysis.
- Experience in economic research, policy analysis, or consultancy, preferably in a government or policy-oriented context.
- Proficiency in using statistical software and econometric tools for data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of national and international economic trends, policies, and development issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.

**Salary**: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
