Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as a **_Financial Controller_** to work in a truly global environment taking responsibility for the management and administration of the several legal entities within the Liquid Products Business Unit and managing and motivating a remote team throughout the region. This position will play a key role as sparring partner of the Amsterdam based regional financial controller for the European and Asian region. The role provides long term development potential for someone eager to demonstrate their skills and experience in the fast-paced soft commodities environment.
Business Overview
**ED&F Man Liquid Products Division** is the leading global supplier in molasses, molasses blends and related liquid products as well as dry products for (mainly) the animal feed industry. We are a pioneer as well as a trader in liquid agricultural by-and
- co-products. We offer expertise in animal nutrition and feed dispense technology to farmers. We work closely with manufacturers, such as rum and yeast producers, to provide quality products from sustainable sources. Our capability includes sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.
We are part of **ED&F Man** **Commodities, **a world leading trader of agricultural products including coffee, sugar, molasses and animal feed.
Key Accountabilities
- Overseeing all periodic reporting for multiple companies; financial reporting (including budgeting and forecasting), group reporting and compliance
- Interpreting and analysing accounting information regarding profitability and against budget
- Adopting a business partner approach to support the commercial teams in their decision-making process
- Ensuring credit management covering credit risk and collection
- Managing cash flow, foreign exchange and other treasury functions
- Handling of tax, treasury, risk and audit requirements
- Liaising with local functional and finance managers to achieve key finance and business requirements
- Project based work, varying projects like reviewing business entities, review business structures/processes, improvement projects
- Ensuring solid control environment in challenging international trade environment with robust processes in place
- Taking a continuous improvement approach
- Managing various direct reports and their teams both based in Amsterdam as well as in the region
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/economics (RBO/HBO considered)
- Qualified accountant qualification preferred (RA/CPA or similar)
- Fluency in business English is required and Dutch preferred. Other languages are advantageous
- Proven understanding of accounting and related technical areas such as Treasury, Tax and Risk
- Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and strong understanding of the importance of the core finance on the commercial functions
- Specific knowledge of finance software (ERP), financial reporting systems and accounting rules (IFRS) and legislation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively build strong working relationships across different functions and cultures and provide them with support
- Experience in managing a team
- A strong focus on performance; sets high standards, results orientated and able to maintain performance under pressure
- Flexible attitude and keen to take on new challenges
- Must be very organised and able to work within tight deadlines with minimum supervision
- Willing to travel (approximately 10%)
- High level of integrity, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and self-reflection are key attributes to perform this role
