Job Title: Veterinary Pathologist (GLP)

Job Summary:
The Veterinary Pathologist in a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) environment is responsible for the pathological evaluation of preclinical safety studies conducted in compliance with GLP regulations. This role involves the examination and interpretation of tissue specimens from animal studies to assess the safety profile of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or other test articles. The Veterinary Pathologist plays a critical role in providing expert pathology support to ensure the accurate assessment of test article-related effects and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Pathology Evaluation:

- Perform gross and histopathological examination of tissue specimens collected from preclinical toxicology studies, including acute, subchronic, and chronic toxicity studies.
- Identify and characterize test article-related lesions and abnormalities, and assess their relevance to safety and regulatory considerations.
- Provide expert interpretation of histopathological findings, including differential diagnoses and correlation with clinical pathology, toxicology, and pharmacology data.
- Study Design and Protocol Review:

- Participate in the review and development of study protocols, providing input on pathological endpoints, tissue collection procedures, and sample processing techniques.
- Collaborate with study directors, toxicologists, and other team members to ensure appropriate study design and implementation to address specific safety assessment objectives.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:

- Analyze pathology data, including lesion incidence, severity, and progression, using standardized terminology and criteria.
- Prepare clear, concise, and scientifically accurate pathology reports summarizing study findings, interpretations, and conclusions.
- Contribute pathology data and interpretations to regulatory submissions, supporting the safety assessment of test articles and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:

- Ensure adherence to GLP regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance protocols in all aspects of pathology evaluation.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance audits, addressing audit findings and implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of pathology data, observations, and interpretations in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Communication and Collaboration:

- Communicate pathology findings and their implications to study teams, project managers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Collaborate with colleagues in toxicology, pharmacology, and other disciplines to integrate pathology data into overall safety assessments and risk evaluations.
- Provide pathology expertise and guidance to support decision-making and problem-solving in preclinical safety assessment activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

- MVSc or equivalent veterinary degree
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in veterinary pathology, preferably in a GLP-regulated environment.
- Thorough understanding of histopathology principles, techniques, and interpretation methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines governing preclinical safety assessment (e.g., FDA, OECD, ICH).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex pathology concepts and findings to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and quality assurance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
