Librarian Library Management:Organize and maintain the school library's collection of books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and other resources.
Develop and implement an effective library classification and cataloging system.
Ensure the library is well-stocked with diverse and relevant materials that cater to the needs and interests of students.
Manage the library budget, including purchasing new books, resources, and equipment.
Keep accurate records of borrowed and returned materials, fines, and overdue items.
Resource Assistance:Assist students, teachers, and staff in locating and selecting appropriate resources for research, projects, and recreational reading.
Provide guidance and support to students in developing information literacy skills, including effective research techniques and critical evaluation of sources.
Help teachers integrate library resources into their lesson plans and curriculum.
Recommend and suggest books, journals, and digital resources to enhance the learning experience.
Stay updated with current educational resources and trends in library science.
Reading Promotion:Foster a love for reading among students by organizing reading programs, book clubs, and other literary activities.
Conduct storytelling sessions and reading sessions to engage and inspire students.
Arrange author visits, book fairs, and literary events to enhance the reading culture in the school.
Create displays and exhibits to showcase new arrivals, special collections, and literary themes.
Library Technology:Manage and maintain library technology, including library management systems, online databases, and e-book platforms.
Assist users in navigating digital resources and online research tools.
Train students and staff in utilizing library technology effectively and safely.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions for library services.
Collaborative Engagement:Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and projects by providing relevant resources and materials.
Work closely with the school administration and faculty to align library services with the school's educational goals and curriculum.
Collaborate with other librarians and participate in professional networks to exchange ideas and best practices.
Build relationships with local libraries, organizations, and publishers to enhance resource availability and partnerships.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of library management systems and digital library technologies.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for reading and promoting literacy.
- Familiarity with children's and young adult literature.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in information literacy instruction.
