Role Proficiency:
Independently develops complex electronic design and perform testing with a high quality result. Guides Embedded Hardware Designers and assists Lead I - Embedded Hardware

Outcomes:

- Design and provide inputs for functional board from requirements including component selection and schematics. Develop test procedure and perform testing as per direction
- Design for Multi-layer high speed PCB and manufacturing support
- Board prototyping bring up of hardware and generate test reports
- Optimize design cost and quality by improving performance
- Mentor Designer I II - Embedded Hardware to become more effective in their roles
- Effectively interact with customers and articulate their inputs
- Co-ordinate with project team members including hardware and software engineers to agree with the system design and interfaces; report the progress of work to supervisor and team

Actively support software mechanical housing team and hardware manufacturing

Measures of Outcomes:

- Adherence to hardware design process and standards
- Quick turnaround on multiple alternative solution and determine the most suitable one
- Number of review feedback post team lead review based on project SLA
- Number of design and test defects post-delivery based on project SLA
- Quick turnaround on defect fixing for design and tests based on project SLA
- Adherence to testing methodologies and compliance process
- Adherence to project schedule / timelines

Completion of all mandatory trainings

Outputs Expected:

- Understand the complex hardware requirements and design standards for project domain

- Hardware design architecture/LLD and linking to requirements independently

- Design the hardware schematic
prepare instruction on schematics for PCB routing independently

Document:

- Create documentation for one's own work

- Mentor junior designers in the team

Skill Examples:

- Ability to provide inputs on circuit design / board development to the leads
- Ability to develop new hardware designs including system design processor/ FPGA design and board level analog /digital circuit design for embedded boards
- Ability to troubleshoot embedded boards/system and evaluate test results against system specifications
- Capacity to work with the soldering iron for the creation of test circuits
- Able to support/debug system integration
- Estimate effort time resources required for developing design and testing
- Ability to investigate and resolve key hardware glitches
- Capable in managing and guarantying high levels of cohesion and quality
- Able to work in a team environment
- Good written and verbal communication abilities

Knowledge Examples:

- Knowledge in Digital design Analog design and Power supply design
- Knowledge in interfacing various types of memory NAND NOR EEPROM etc.
- Understanding of microcontroller/processors 8/16/32 DSP/SoC based hardware architectures
- Knowledge in protocols interfaces I2C SPI RS232 RS485 CAN UART LIN and connectivity protocols like Ethernet Wi-Fi BT ZigBee LoRA NBIoT
- Knowledge in sensor based analog signal conditioning design with Op-Amps ADC DAC CODEC and Sensors
- Experience with any CAD tools - Altium Designer Cadence OrCAD Mentor Graphics for schematics PCB and SI
- Knowledge in Design Analysis - Logic compatibility analog simulation power estimation
- Knowledge in guiding PCB design and SI analysis
- Knowledge in compliance - EMI/ EMC and regulatory standards
- Familiar with debugging tools like function generator DPO/DSO MSO Protocol analyzer Network analyzer Audio analyser Video analyser Spectrum analyser and JTAG Emulators
- Knowledge in product domains
- Knowledge in HDLC PDLC and Quality Engineering
- Comprehension of V model Kanban Agile methods
