Principal Machine Learning Applied Scientist (NLP)

What you will do:

- Delve deep into the problem space, challenge assumptions, and establish a clear alignment on the right requirements.
- Work alongside ML engineers to own end-to-end ML features from data collection strategies to model development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Collaboration is a key factor of success. You will work across a variety of disparate, internal teams (both geographically and in skillset), quickly and proactively establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Be responsible and trusted to attend key meetings with relevant stakeholders and communicate the outcome of these meetings effectively with the Mimecast Labs, Engineering, and Product leadership, as necessary.
- Mentor and guide junior members of the team, champion best practices and introduce fresh ideas and concepts from the ever-evolving world of ML and NLP.

What we are looking for:

- 7+ years of experience working in Data Science or ML, of which 4+ years working on NLP models that have been deployed to production.
- Must be proficient in at least one cloud platform such as AWS (preferred), GCP, or Azure.
- Must have comprehensive experience across the entire life cycle of Data-centric AI, including design of efficient data annotation processes to align with the requirements of the problem and model.
- Must have solid programming skills in Python, along with experience in using relevant tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, XGBoost, Huggingface etc.
- Familiarity with ML Ops system design and working with ML platforms (preferably, AWS SageMaker) is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Curiosity and a strong growth mindset with a demonstrable history of learning quickly in a loosely structured, rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- At least a bachelor's degree in computer science or other quantitative fields (advanced degree preferred).
