Water Plant Operator

The Water Plant Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment and distribution systems to ensure the supply of safe and clean drinking water to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate and control equipment such as pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed systems to regulate water flow and treatment processes.
- Monitor water quality by conducting chemical and bacteriological tests, and adjust treatment processes as necessary to meet regulatory standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including equipment inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure proper functioning of plant machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and respond promptly to emergencies such as leaks, equipment failures, or adverse water quality incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations, test results, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other plant operators, maintenance staff, and regulatory agencies to ensure operational compliance and efficient plant performance.
- Follow safety procedures and protocols to minimize risks to personnel, equipment, and the environment.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in water treatment or related field preferred.
- Certification as a Water Treatment Plant Operator or ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and be on-call for emergencies.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
