**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Library Management**:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library, including the acquisition, cataloging, and organization of books, journals, and electronic resources.
- Maintain the library's physical and digital collection, ensuring that the library’s materials are updated and relevant.
- Ensure proper classification and shelving of resources, using library management software.
- **Resource Acquisition and Development**:

- Identify and procure books, journals, and other educational materials based on the requirements of faculty and students.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of library resources, manage budget allocation for library resources, and negotiate with vendors for purchases.
- **Digital Library Management**:

- Facilitate the transition to and management of digital library systems.
- Promote and manage access to e-library resources, online databases, and other digital information services.
- **Assistance to Students and Faculty**:

- Provide reference and research assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
- Organize and conduct workshops, orientation programs, and training sessions for students and faculty members on using the library and e-resources effectively.
- **Information and Knowledge Services**:

- Stay updated with advancements in library and information science and introduce new and relevant services to the college community.
- Develop and maintain an institutional repository and encourage open access to educational resources.
- **Library Automation and Innovation**:

- Implement and maintain a computerized library system for cataloging, issuing, and tracking library materials.
- Stay updated on emerging library technologies and innovative practices to improve the accessibility and efficiency of library services.
- **Supervision and Collaboration**:

- Supervise library staff and student assistants, providing training and guidance where necessary.
- Collaborate with faculty members to support curriculum development and ensure the library’s resources align with academic needs.
- **Reporting & Documentation**:

- Prepare annual reports detailing library activities, usage statistics, budget reports, and future plans for library development.
- Maintain records of library membership, book circulation, and other key metrics.

**Required Qualifications**:

- **Educational Qualification**:

- A **Master's Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science** or equivalent professional degree with at least **55% marks** (or an equivalent grade on a point scale).
- **Eligibility**:

- Must have cleared the **National Eligibility Test (NET)** conducted by the UGC, or the **State Eligibility Test (SET)** accredited by the UGC.
- **Experience & Skills**:

- Experience of at least **3-5 years** working in a library, preferably in a college or academic institution.
- Familiarity with **library management software** and proficiency in **digital library practices**.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- **Desirable Qualifications**:

- Knowledge and experience with **modern library practices**, including **Open Access Resources** and **Institutional Repositories**.
- Experience in conducting library orientation programs and workshops.
- Contribution to research in the field of library and information science through publications or conference participation.
