**Azim Premji Foundation has started work in Health. Our work in Health has been envisaged both (1) directly through our own teams, as well as (2) through support to partner NGOs and public-spirited health institutions. The primary responsibility for the position detailed below would be to handle the grants work of the Health team, while working closely with the Finance Lead of Foundation’s direct work in health.**

**Responsibilities**:
b) basic financial analysis, validation and review of proposed grant budget

c) review of actual fund utilization reporting submitted by the NGO partner during the grant term

d) in-person diligence of applicant NGOs books of account prior to grant approval as well as post approval during the grant term for verification of actual spend vs. budget

e) periodically update workflow at the grant portal (uploading documents reviewed, information analysed etc.)

**2. **Draw scenarios, workflows (input, processes, output) with specific focus on key set of activities for the Health Grant portfolio:
a) Validation of grant budget proposal

b) Determine further information to be solicited - prior to due diligence, during the diligence as well as post due diligence.

c) Overall understanding of finance management and accounts for partner NGOs (Operating expenses, Capital vs revenue, Corpus funds / General Reserve etc.)

**3. **Be an “effective and efficient team member” vis-à-vis “a scorekeeper” to support the following:
a) Coherence between two forms of expression of grant proposal - Language (Program) and Numbers (Budget)

b) Anchor conversations on ‘Judgement questions’ - adequacy or reasonableness of the costs in the grant budget

c) Common (Shared) understanding of the program logic (design, execution and implementation etc.)

d) Arrive at key operating metric for a program / set of programs we support and the related cost benchmark for meaningful analysis.

**4. **Act as an expert for all aspects of financial management and accounting system framework which are critical for assessment of an applicant organization during the grant making process (policies, systems, documentation, compliance, internal control).

**5. **Engage with applying/partner NGO’s finance and accounts team to understand and assess their existing operating level and scope of maturing therefrom

**6. **Be an integral part of the Health team, develop familiarity with the Foundation’s direct work in Health as it evolves, keep track of different operational and financial metrics in work across the set of NGO partners and the Foundation’s direct work in Health.

**7. **In addition to working with the Health team and overall Health Finance Lead for our direct work in Health, also work with the larger Program Finance team that supports other Grant Portfolios to develop effectiveness in core grant making function (leveraging systems, technology to standardize processes).

Qualifications and Experience

**1. **M.Com / CA (Intermediate) / ICWA / MBA Finance with prior work experience of 8-15 years in Operational Finance in an organization working in Health, preferably in the not-for-profit space (either community/primary health or charitable hospitals with community outreach work).

**3. **Ability to collaborate and demonstrate being a team Player with persuasive skills both one -on - on and group situations.

**4. **Ability to identify risks, challenges, issues and suggest alternatives that lead to a working solution.

**6. **Demonstrate analytical aptitude and attitude (relevance and usefulness of information analysis and how it contributes to the evaluation process of grant making / grant management).

**7. **Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
